With a pumpkin art contest, Mulled Wine & Murder Siena Beverage Tasting Event, Pumpkin Party on the Hill and, of course, our annual Murder at Cherry Hill dramatic tours, there’s something for everyone at Historic Cherry Hill this fall!

Murder at Cherry Hill Pumpkin Art: A Juried Show and Art Contest in Collaboration with Albany Barn

"Murder at Cherry Hill Call for Artists, Pumpkin Carving & Painting Competition" In partnership with Albany Barn

Important Dates:

  • September 16, 20, & 23: Artists tours (ask questions, get inspiration for the theme!)
  • October 3: Deadline to submit a proposal
  • October 6: Artists pick up their pumpkin (blank canvas) at Historic Cherry Hill
  • October 10: Artists drop off their pumpkin creations for judging
  • October 14th, 2pm: Winners announced (prizes and merch distributed) at “Pumpkin Party on the Hill”

Carved pumpkins, painted pumpkins, and other media on pumpkins accepted. Prizes include “Murder at Cherry Hill” merch and $250 cash prize.
Artists Pumpkins will be on view while they last from October 11-October 28.

Mulled Wine & Murder: A Tasting Event with the Siena Beverage Institute

Enjoy an evening of “mulled wine and murder” by the glow of jack-o’-lantern light with food and beverage tastings from circa 1827—the year of Cherry Hill’s infamous murder. A collaboration with the Siena Beverage Institute, a murder-themed tour of the historic house will follow the tasting. These events fill up fast, Register Now!

Murder at Cherry Hill: A Dramatic Walk through a Harrowing Evening

October 12th-14th, 18th-21st, 25th-28th at 5:30 & 7PM

On May 7, 1827, a notorious murder occurred at Cherry Hill that resulted in two sensational trials and Albany’s last public hanging. Come relive that night! Meet the historical players, walk in the footsteps of a murderer, and revel in harrowing titillation during this annual October event! Ticket includes cider and doughnuts.

Pumpkin Party on the Hill

Saturday, October 14th, 12-3PM FREE, all ages, no reservations required

Join us for Pumpkin Party on the Hill! Enjoy free ice cream, watch a pumpkin carving demonstration, and do some pumpkin decorating of your own! View an array of creepy jack-o’-lanterns created by Albany artists and vote for your favorite! Winners will be announced at 2PM. The RED Bookshelf will also be on site handing out free books!
